Dr. S. Melvin George joined Richmond Nephrology associates in April of 2019 after practicing in Midwest and Southwest Virginia for eight years. He has extensive training and completed his Internal medicine residency in Carilion Clinic in Roanoke and his nephrology fellowship at the University of Virginia Charlottesville. He was awarded the best outgoing fellow in the Department of Medicine at UVA. He also has completed his General Surgery Internship at the Montefiore Medical Center NY from the prestigious Albert Einstein School of Medicine. He has held leadership positions in the hospitals at Southwest Virginia.

Dr. George specializes in treating various kidney diseases and strives to provide comprehensive and quality care to all his patients. He has a particular interest in glomerular diseases, acute renal failure and hypertension and is a Certified Hypertension specialist. He has been recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology. He is the medical director of the Glenside Unit.
